New Boiler Opening
This year the most serious problem, that is the lack of heat in the kids' bedrooms, has been resolved. The outdated pattern of heat provision, through a centralized heating system, that used to be in use in the facility of the House of Joy orphanage before did not help. With the first cold spell temperature in kids' room would go down to 12-15 Centigrade, and mass usage of electric space heaters could shut down the electric supply at any moment.

Thanks to the help of generous donors provided by our friends from the International Humanitarian 'Reach the Children' Fund, all the necessary finances needed for the purchase and installation of the boiler were provided. Kahovka city officials showed great support at the grand opening on October 2, 2007. This autonomous boiler system will provide heat both for the residents and workers of the 'House of Joy' orphanage and for almost 200 children and teachers of the neighboring kindergarten.

The honorary right to cut the traditional ribbon was given to Alla Yevtuhova, one of the orphanages first residents, Alexander Karasevich, the city mayor, and Jim King, the president of 'Reach the Children' Fund.

The opening of the boiler coincided with the orphanage's second anniversary. We hope that the children enjoy the heat provided by this generous gift for many future years.
